After thunder and lightening during the day, the skies had cleared and the wind had dropped, though it still remained fairly cold – most legs and arms remained covered. Not a fast night.
Steve Grimwood managed a very respectable time given he punctured at Tunstall, had a little rest, then managed to borrow a wheel from a passing cyclist (John Coles) before completing the course. Andrew Hawes in his second ride is making an early move for the handicap trophy.
