1. What licence type do I need for a British Cycling Road Race?
This depends on the event and rider category:
British Cycling's Licence Eligibility Chart explains the type of licence required by membership type and event.
For National B races (E/1/2/3 riders) - no 'day' licence can be bought - riders who don't bring their licence will be fined £10.
Regional B (3/4 cat riders) - Day licences available as follows
Non Member £10, Bronze Member £10, Silver Member £5, Gold Member £5
Go Race (4th cat senior riders or novice adults) - Day licences available as follows
Non Member £5, Bronze Member - free, Silver Member-free, Gold Member-free
Youth (any youth age group races) - Day licences available as follows
Non Member - £1.50, Bronze/Silver/Gold Members -free
2. Can I turn up to one of your Plomesgate Club time trials on a Thursday evening and just ride?
Yes, you are welcome to do this if you are 12 years or older and pay the Cycling Time Trials levy of £2 which the club is required to pay CTT. Please note that you will need to have a parent/guardian complete a parental consent form if you are under 18 yrs. (This only needs to be completed once each season). Note that U18's must wear a hard shell helmet.
3. Does your club have competitions for member riders?
Yes - we have a handicap award based on individual's performances over the season in our 10 mile time trials. We also have a Best All Rounder award, a Road Racing Cup, Fastest Lady award and a new Junior member award. Further details of these to be added.
