PLOMESGATE CYCLING CLUB

WHAT DO WE DO? We support as many forms of cycling as is practical. We organise and take part in leisure / social rides, we organise and take part in races, we organise and take part in off road / mountain bike rides.

DO I NEED A SPECIAL BIKE? No. All you need is a bike which is roadworthy and safe. We can advise you on this. Participants on our social rides come on all forms of bike, MTB, tandem, lightweight racers...

CAN I RACE ? Yes. Once you are a member of Plomesgate CC you can take part in races which we organise for our members, in open races we we promote for all categories from all over East Anglia or Nationwide, and in other open events across East Anglia or Nationally.

DO I NEED TO BE FIT? The answer to this is dependent on what you want to do. Most people can cope with our social rides which usually involve a liesurely pace of 10 -12mph, a stop for coffee and a stop for lunch, and cover in the region of 30 - 40 miles, dependent on the weather and the experience of who is on the ride.In our experience it is usually the bike that collapses before the rider ! It helps if you are fit of course, and especially if you want to race you should be careful of overdoing it if you have a history of poor health.

IF I COME ON A SUNDAY RIDE WILL I BE LEFT BEHIND? No. We are adamant that our monthly social rides are just that are run off at a pace that accomodates the slowest rider. Nobody has ever been left behind.

HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE ? We do ask that individual members be over 12 years old. However, we do have younger members who come along on our rides as long as they are accompanied by a parent, or are on a tandem with an adult.

WHERE DO WE MEET? We do not have a club room, yet, but we meet monthly for our rides on a Sunday. The starting point and time in the month can vary which is publicised in the club newsletter, so it is best to contact a member of the club usually the club secretary to find out more... see below.

WHAT DO I GET WHEN I JOIN? You will get a monthly newsletter, keeping you informed of what is coming up and what has been happening, and you will be able to come out on our social rides, take part in races, off road events and anything else we organise.

SO HOW DO I JOIN? Easy, simply look in the 'Contact us' section of this web site to get the details of the club secretary then contact them for a membership form. Then forward the completed form to the secretary along with your membership fee (£10 if you are over 18 or £5 if you are under 18.)
