February/March 2007
March Station Mileage: 20miles
31st March - Great & Little Horkesley
9.6 miles - 295ft ascent. Family ride for Robert to try out his new bike. Pretty breezy. [HS,JS,RA,SPS]
17th March - Eastbridge to Sudbourne for PCC Open Event
29.3
miles - 1,035ft ascent. Ride over to Sudbourne from Helen's parents' house
in Eastbridge
to timekeep a cycling club time trial. Good ride but distinctly breezy in places!
[JS]
16th March - Bildeston, Chelsworth, Kettlebaston & Hitcham
9.4
miles - 465ft ascent. Venturing a little further afield (into a field!) for
a very pleasant
springy lunch time ride with just about enough mud to make it fun. [MS, RT,
JS]
11th March - Gt. Horkesley Nayland
12.6 miles - 398ft ascent. Family bike ride. Lovely springy day - ideal for a ride down to Nayland for a pint at the Anchor! [HS, JS RAS, SPS]
4th March - Rodbridge to Sudbury on the old railway line
5.5
miles - 171ft ascent. Family bike ride. Simon did really well and has set
a new record for mileage on his own bike.
He was definitely spurred on by the stop-off at a coffee shop and a large muffin
half way round! [HS, JS RAS, SPS]
Febuary Station Mileage: 12miles
18th February - Salem & Runaway Bay, Jamaica
3.7
miles - Mostly flat. Ride around the local village on rather pot-holey roads
on a decidedly manky bike!
Hot and humid but interesting to see the local area, saw a mongoose! [HS, JS]

15th February - Blue Mountain Bike Ride, Jamaica

(note: underlying aerial imagery from Google Earth is pretty lo-res!)
3.6
miles - Supposedly 95% downhill! Interesting coast down from the Blue mountains
topped off with a plunge into a brilliant waterfall/pool on the hillside.
Company could have been better (Helen excluded of course) plenty of Americans
and raucous 'Brits abroad' [HS, JS]

18th February - Steve & Neal's Copford & Colchester Ride
14.7
miles - 676ft ascent. I'm not even in the country and still end up having
to map the ride!
A Kestrel-less ride including a white knuckle plummet down Balkerne Hill. [SS,
NS]
4th February - Lamarsh, Twinstead, Pebmarsh, Fordham
25.1
miles - 979ft ascent. Nice to start in daylight, but dusk falling fast.
Navigation made a little more challenging after I lost my map 2/3 of the way
round! [JS]
