January 2007/December 2006
January Station Mileage: 22miles
28th January - Wormingford, Bures, Nayland Lt. Horkesley
17
miles - 671ft ascent. Mild but with a stiff breeze. Good ride with some ups
and downs,
but Neal was suffering rather in the second half with a horrible
headache! [NS, SS, JS]
21st January - Marks Tey & Chelmsford
16
miles - 684ft ascent. Ride over to Marks Tey to get the train to Chelmsford
and
then to First Response course in Chelmsford before reverssing the route
home.
Cold,
early morning with a stiff breeze return journey much more pleasant! [JS]
14th January - Ardleigh & Langham
20.2
miles - 507ft ascent. First decent lengthed night ride of the year. Cold
and clear after many days of wind and murk.
Route
pretty flat so able to make rapid progress towards a welcome pint of
Umbel
(Coriander) Ale at the
Shepherd & Dog [SS, JS]
1st January - Wivenhoe Trail [New Year (not) new route!]
8.5
miles - 255ft ascent. Showing amazing originality we returned to the Wivenhoe
trail we did a couple of days ago but this time with families.
Alec did brilliantly
on by far his most epic ride on his bike to date! [NS, SS, JS, HS + families]
29th December - Wivenhoe Trail
14.8
miles - 635ft ascent. Last ride of the year. Blooming breezy evening and
rather muddy track,
but very pleasant pint of Bateman's Rosie Nose in the
pub in Wivenhoe [NS, SS,
JS]
23rd December - Langham Christmas Snifter Ride
15.7
miles - 373ft ascent. Decidedly chilly ride out for a Christmas snifter at
the Shepherd & Dog
and a warm up at the White Hart before going Ho-Ho-home!
<groan> [SS, JS]
19th December - Tour de Center Parcs
2.5 miles - 106ft ascent. Simon's first off road ride on his own bike in really chilly weather! [HS,RS, SPS, JS]
3rd December - Wormingford, Nayland & Little Horkesley
15.0
miles - 542ft ascent. Wow - windy or what!? Added to the constant up and
down
and chilly temperatures a real 'fun' evening - enjoyable though! [NS, SS, JS]
