A Selection of Routes to Jon Smith's House

Coming From Either Direction on A12 (Definitely the best way if coming from South!)

S1. Turning off the A12 at the A1124 roundabout (direction Halstead)

Take the A12 London bound and ignore the turnings to Colchester until you get to the A1124 junction for Halstead and the Zoo.
Turn off here and go round the roundabout and follow signs for Halstead.
Go straight across the small roundabout at the end of the short piece of dual carriageway. The only turn off on the roundabout is for a Forte hotel.
About quarter of a mile on, turn right between a used car dealer and a pub.
Stay on road through housing, past 'Cricketers' PH until you come to a cross road with a farm on the right.
At crossroads turn right and take road down into Stour Valley.
At the bottom of the valley turn left at the T Junction and cross the river and head up hill.
Take the first sizable (there are some small roads too) right turn (Chapel Road) as you get to the top of the hill.
Head through the village past the Shop and Pharmacy.
At the T Junction with the main road into Colchester turn right towards Colchester.
Stay on Colchester Road through the village until you see the old Truman brewery on your left.

Alternatives if coming on the A12 from the North

N1. Turning off at Stratford

Turn off A12 at junction signposted 'Stratford St. Mary' & 'Dedham.
Follow signs for Stratford, pass under A12 and through village.
At top of hill after Le Talbooth turn right, signposted to 'Langham.'
Keep on road through Boxted village.

Now see 'for both routes…' N2. Turning off at Langham

Turn off A12 at junction signposted 'Langham' and 'Ardleigh'
Follow signs for 'Langham'and cross over the A12.
At T junction turn left signposted 'Ipswich (A12).'
At T junction by village sign turn right.
At T junction turn left.
Stay on road for some distance until angled T Junction shortly after sharp right hand bend. At this T junction turn right.
At next T junction turn left signposted 'Colchester.'

Now see 'for both routes…' for both Routes…

Just after Garden Centre turn right, signposted Gt. Horkesley
In Gt. Horkesley turn left at T junction with 'Causeway' to right and 'Nayland Road' to left.
After a short distance turn right onto 'Coach Road' at mini-roundabout, signposted West Bergholt.
At T Junction by Westwood Park Business Centre turn left.
At T Junction by White Hart public house turn left onto Colchester Road.
You are now in West Bergholt!
Stay on Colchester Road through the village until you see the old Truman brewery on your left.

To get into the development once you get to the Old Truman Brewery… Take the left turn into Maltings Park Road under the archway in the building in front of the old brewery follow the road around to the right and our house is the one on the corner with the loft conversion where the road goes round to the left.
